AARON AND HUR Exodus 17:8-13

Shortly after the Israelites entered the wilderness, the Amalekites came to fight them at Rephidim. The physical presence of Moses was crucial to the war, not to fight physically but to watch over the soldiers spiritually who will be in battle. Moses instructed Joshua on what to do and what he will do too, V9 “And Moses said to Joshua, choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand”. On the morrow, while Joshua went to war, Moses with, Aaron, his able lieutenant and Hur went to the top of the hill.

V11-13 “And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword”.

When Moses raised his hands, Israel prevailed but when his hands came down, the enemy prevailed. Aaron and Hur played an important role in the victory of Israel in that battle, they helped raised the hands of Moses when he became weary.

There are times in life we become genuinely weary and we cannot continue again, this is when we need our Aaron and Hur most to help us make the journey or battle worthwhile. Your husband/wife/children, friends and other people can fit in perfectly as your Aaron and Hur. As Moses received help to fulfil his ministry, you shall succeed beyond your expectations too in Jesus’ name.

Prayer point: Father Lord at my point of weariness, let not my Aaron and Hur be lacking in Jesus’ name.
