There is a level you get to with God that you begin to enjoy His unlimited favour. Recently, I discover that you can still go up the ladder; i.e merit His covenant. With sin, God can remove favour, but with covenant, He still remain faithful, even to generations after. David merited God’s covenant and his seed after benefitted from this too. Psalms 89:30-34 “If his children forsake my law and walk not in My judgements, if they break My statutes and keep not my commandments, then will I visit their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless, My loving kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer My faithfulness to fail. My COVENANT will I not break, nor alter the things that is gone out of my lips”.
Another person that merited God’s covenant was Abraham. Generations after him are still benefiting from this covenant till today. Genesis 18:17-19 “and the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do? Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgement; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which He hath spoken of him”.
These men merited this rare grace.
How can we merit God’s covenant? To be continued.
