Dedication is the hard work, time and effort that somebody puts into an activity or purpose because you think it is important. When you are dedicated to God and the things of His kingdom, God in turn will be dedicated to you too. In our text, Daniel chose to be dedicated to God in a seemingly impossible situation, even at the threat of life, V 8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself”. His request was not granted initially but he persisted until he was granted instead of resigning that, at least, he tried.
God found Daniel trustworthy and He endowed him and his friends with special abilities, V 17-20 “As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm”.
You don’t have to take bribe because everyone is taking it; you don’t have to cut corners because everyone is doing it; you don’t have to commit sexual sins because everyone is doing it. Stand out for Christ in your generation, in the beginning you may look stupid for it but at the long run, you will standout of the crowd and be rewarded for it. We have living proofs of people in our contemporary times that are dedicated to God and God rewarded their faithfulness. Get more committed to God in spirit and truth but not in eye service or hypocrisy.
Prayer point: By the power of the Holy Ghost, I will stand for Christ in my generation in Jesus name.
