A sacrificial offering does not come at all times but seasonal and timely. The riches of God’s glory are not something that exists everywhere but they are inside of us. 1Peter 3:3-4. Whenever we receive a demand from God, we should respond instantly. The people were waiting to embalm Jesus after death but it was late because He needed it before death, which this woman did because she was sensitive to the divine timetable.

It was not recorded in the bible that anybody touched the head of Jesus but this woman did because of divine agenda and to that effect, the four synoptic gospels recorded the incident. Though the alabaster jar was costly too, the oil was costlier. The emphasis was not on the jar but the oil. V 5 “For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her”. A denarii (pence) was a day wage!
She did not see any value in the jar, that was why she could break it for the fragrance of the oil to escape. “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the Excellency of the power may be of God and not of us”. 2Cor 4:7. This woman did what she did out of love and reverence to our Lord Jesus Christ. She saw her unworthiness and surrendered her will to Christ’s own. She didn’t do it expecting a reward but she got great commendation after.
It is the Spirit of God in us that must be released when we deliberately break ourselves before God in total submission. The oil (Holy Spirit) is meant to flow to other people. And until we break our alabaster jar, which is ‘self’, the oil’s fragrance won’t be released. You can never give what you don’t have, the more reason you have to receive from God. For this to happen, it must be activated by the prompt response to the demand of God.
When you break ‘self’, then and only then can u become a carrier of divinity. “Now thanks be to God, who in Christ always lead us in triumph, and through us spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere”. 2Cor 2:14. You can’t be a carrier of divinity and not walk in total victory.

Prayer point: Lord prepare me a sanctuary for you in Jesus’ name.
