Sequel to yesterday’s devotional, if there are some parts of us to put to death, there are some parts of us we must build up. Remember, we must focus our hearts on godly things and not on earthly things (V1-2).
V 12-17 “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”.
The word is explicit here about the kind of nature we must as Christian imbibe. Love is the fulfilment of the law; love for God and mankind. When we love genuinely, putting up these godly characters will not be hard for us as the Holy Spirit will help us make it easier.
All these are not going to be possible if you don’t yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to lead and use you. Forgo your self-worth for the sake of your spiritual growth.
Prayer point: Lord help me to continue to build godly character in Jesus name.
