In the OT, the High Priest or whom the lot fell on, enters into the Holy of Holies once a year. The High Priest knew he was a dead man walking when the other Priests ties a rope around his ankle while he looked at the heavy veil separating him from the Holy of the Holies. The only way he would ever walk out of that room alive was by the mercies of God. If he dies, as some did not primarily died from their own sins but the sins of the nation, the whole congregation is thrown into mourning because it is a bad omen, but if he lives, everyone is happy.
Back then it was a matter of life and death but today, many Christians just want a date with God and yet still want to experience His glory. Nowadays we serve God, just because of what we need from Him, many sow seed because they see God as a money doubler.
We talk about the glory of God, if the glory ever show up in full measure, we’ll all be dead. Mountains melt at His manifest presence, how much more flesh? 1Corinthians 1:29.
V 1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. When you present yourself as a living sacrifice, and subject your life to the will of God, then such a person will experience some measure of the glory of God.
Prayer point: Lord help me to be totally obedient to Your instructions for my life.
