In continuation of yesterday’s devotional, after genuine repentance, refreshing from the Holy Spirit is sure to follow. From V12 of the chapter where our text was taken, it spoke of genuine repentance and turning to God, which precedes refreshing from the Lord. According to our text, after the people turned to the Lord, they experienced a refreshing period from the Lord.
Prior to this time, things were awful in the land but when they turned to the Lord, things changed for good. Famine gave way to plenty, shame to fame and ultimately the destroyer sent to them was removed V20a “But I will remove far from you the northern army, and will drive him away into a barren and desolate land”. There was a great refreshing from the Lord in the land that both man and beast enjoyed. The Lord restored back to them all that was lost including their time, V25 “And I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has eaten, the locust larvae, and the stripping locust, and the cutting locust, My great army which I sent among you”.
After refreshing, divine restoration happens. All that seem lost is divinely restored because of genuine repentance. It is only God that can give enduring blessing, He alone can turn things around and make every impossibility possible. Is your prayer life going down? Are you not condoning what you usually frown at before? Have you started laughing at their ungodly jokes? These are but some of the subtle ways devil try to distract us, return back to God today genuinely and everything that is lost including time, He shall restore.
Prayer point: Father Lord help me to rediscover myself in any place I have missed it.
