V 1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
There are some things and people that are not necessary companion in our journey of life, they are just dead weights. No matter how close they are to us, anybody that does not believe in your vision, dreams or potentials is wasting your time. And the best thing to do is to just let them go or else it may lead to lose of life in extreme cases. David saw the need to flee from his father in-law and King; Saul and his life and destiny was preserved. On the contrary, Jonathan; the heir apparent saw what David saw too but chose to stay with his father and he paid with his life. He died a needless death.
Laziness; whether mentally or physically is also a dead weight. No matter how glorious your destiny is, if you don’t do anything, you will die a pauper! Proverbs 6:6-8 “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest”. Start doing something today, do not stay idle.
Sleep is another dead weight, many people are given to sleep like they are in competition, or someone will pay them for sleeping; Proverbs 6:9-11 “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man”. For purpose of emphasis, it is repeated in 24:33-34
Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”. It is what you do that God will bless not idleness!
Prayer point: I purge from my life by fire every dead weights slowing me down in Jesus name.
