What you feed grows and what you starve dies naturally. All the little foxes that seem unimportant but if not checked has devastating effects must be rightly starved to the death. No one will do it for you, you must by yourself. On the other hand, you must set your mind on the things in heaven to feed your spirit. When you feed your spirit on the right diet, then you will have a very healthy and robust spirit.
V1-4 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory”. Why do you need to set your mind on things in heaven? Because Christ is seated in heaven and your life is in Christ now.
V5-8 “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth”. The truth is this, fornication, uncleanness, passion etc are members of our bodies here on earth, and because they are members of our bodies, the onus of mortifying belong to us. When you put them to death, you are creating room for your spirit to be stronger.
We often pray that God should remove these things from our lives but now we know that the duty of removing these things is ours. Daily you must confess your victory over all the works of the flesh and put them under, while you ask for more power from the Holy Spirit to fill you daily. Do not cover satan, whenever you fall into any of these sins, report the devil to your spiritual head and expose the devil.
Prayer point: Lord divinely empower my spirit man in Jesus name.
