Our God has power to save from all situations even if we are the architect of the misfortune that might have arisen. There are many challenges we get ourselves into that we didn’t bargain for, like the proverbial prodigal son but our God is a loving God that still show mercy to people in the backslidden state.
In our text, God called Jonah and sent him to Nineveh but he chose to go to Tarshish. V3 “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD”. Jonah had money that was why he could pay his fare to Tarshish, if he had not, he wouldn’t have gone. God deliberately keep some people on tether on because if they become comfortable they will forget God.
If God loves you, he will discipline you when you go astray. He whom He loves, He chastises. Because God loved Jonah, He chastised him to bring him back to order. After he embarked on the journey, he encountered problems on high sea and he was eventually thrown into the sea.
There was no possibility of anybody saving him in the belly of the fish, but he cried to God in repentance and God delivered him. you might be going through a predicament which you brought upon yourself, it is not the will of God for it to tarry. Just as Jonah did, call upon God today for deliverance and He will definitely show up for you.
Prayer point: Father Lord let Your mercy locate me in every challenges and deliver me in Jesus name.
