GODLY FAST (Isaiah 58:1-14)

Many times when people fast, they do not receive direct answers to their prayers, many factors could contribute to this which we shall highlight here. First and foremost, what does a Godly fast entail? It is not all about abstinence from food but having the right mindset towards God and our fellow men. V6-7 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh”? If you are owing your workers and you want to fast, you must pay them their wages. As many that has problems which you can solve, you are duty bound to do so. Whoever is owing you and cannot genuinely pay should be forgiven if you can. The food you are abstaining from is not meant to be kept but given to the poor around us and also cover the naked.
When we do this from our mind, V8-9 “Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, here I am. If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness”.
It does not end there, understand the purpose of fasting is to weaken the flesh but strengthen your spirit in order to connect more quickly with divinity. Let not your fast been seen as hunger strike, make sure to put the flesh under.

Prayer point: I remove every hindrances to my answered prayers in Jesus name.
