Jesus in His farewell message to the disciples and by extension to all children of God said He will not leave us desolate but will dwell in us, albeit through the Holy Spirit. V16-18 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholds him not, neither knows him: ye know him; for He abides with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you desolate: I come unto you”.
I usually say the greatest thing that can happen to an individual is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and the worst thing that can happen to any child of God is when the Holy Spirit depart from him, ask King Saul. Nothing is as reassuring as knowing the Holy Spirit is living inside of you. Because of this awareness, you will not be moved to face any challenge or circumstance that may come your way, when you are assured it will work in your favour. From the Old Testament, the patriarchs had this unalloyed faith in God; Moses dared Pharaoh, the three Hebrews dared the burning fiery furnace, Daniel dared the lions, in the New Testament Peter could sleep soundly despite death sentence, Stephen was ill at ease despite imminent dead etc all because of the reassured presence of the almighty God.
One of the major ways the devil always attack us is to doubt God’s presence in our lives. Its not only when the journey is smooth that the Holy Spirit is there, even when it is rough. Any thought of “is God hearing me at all, why is this happening to only me, maybe this is my destiny” etc are all from the devil. Whenever such negative thoughts come into your mind, remind the devil of the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life.
Prayer point: Father help me not to depart from your presence in Jesus name.
