The principles of God are opposite those of the world. In the world system, people crave to be served but in the kingdom system, you are called to serve to serve others. Jesus our perfect example teaches us some lessons in humility. Jesus is the son of God, the third person of the Triune God, yet He humbled Himself to the level of taking the lowly form of human nature. He left His heavenly estate in other to redeem mankind and reconcile us back to God. From His lowly birth in the manger among animals to the painful death on the cross, it was an exemplary life of sacrifice that He lived.
As Christians, we are to follow the example of Jesus Christ. V5-8 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross”. It is worthy to note that anybody taking the glory that belong to God is robbing God, and it is not possible you are robbing God and still be in reckoning with Him.
Due to the humility of Jesus, God honoured Him by making Him the symbol of eternal authority, V9-11 “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.
The lesson from this is that it is only in God through humility that your greatness can be achieved. God made Nebuchadnezzar great, but despite been warned personally, he lifted his heart to God and God humbled him by turning him into an animal. The rich fool in the parable of Jesus was destroyed because he did not return glory to God. Remain humble in Christ, do not take God’s glory and He will exalt you.
Prayer point: Father Lord help me to cooperate with you to remain humble in Jesus name.
