MIRY CLAY Psalm 40:1-17

Challenges are part of life, infact Jesus didn’t excuse us of them, John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. But there are challenges that come our way, such that we begin to wonder whether the whole of hell has been unleashed on us. Apostle Paul had his own fair share that he even thought death has come, 2Corinthians 1:8-9 “We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead”. NIV

The good news is that in all challenges, the faithfulness of God is never in doubt, He always vindicate His elect, V 1-3 “I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD”. Trying to walk through miry clay is almost an impossible task to say the least. That exactly how it is wading through some life challenges but when the Lord steps in, He usually delivers from them all.

Some people allow themselves to be overwhelmed by life battles instead of running to God; because the only antidote to life challenges is God. Some of these battles are man inflicted and far older than us but we have a God who knows all things and can do all things. V 13-15 “Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me! Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion who seek to destroy my life; let them be driven backward and brought to dishonor who wish me evil. Let them be confounded because of their shame, who say to me, Aha, aha!”

Whatever you are going through that makes you feel like giving up has an expiry date. Have faith in God and He will prove Himself faithful in your life in Jesus name.

Prayer point: By the power of the Holy Ghost, Lord deliver me from every miry clay in Jesus name.
