Romans 5:1-5 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us”.

A well-known “Apostle of china” was quoted as, “The first sign of an Apostle is one who is still standing when everyone else has fallen from pressure, discouragement or hopelessness of a situation”. It takes the spirit of Patience to still be standing when every other person has fallen or deserted you. It takes this same spirit to be doing the same thing over and over again without any physical result and yet not give up. We see many examples of Patriarchs in the bible who patiently endured to the end, Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”. Hebrews 6:12 “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”.

There is a race that is set before you, you need the spirit of Patience to be able to complete the race, Matthew 10:22 “And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved”. While this applies to the glorious home we are pursuing, it still has the same effect on some things we are believing God to do for us here too on earth. Hebrews 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.

Regardless of what you need patience for; Abraham waited on the Lord for twenty-five years for Isaac, David waited about thirteen years before he became King, Joseph waited about thirteen years too before he became Prime Minister. Do not lose hope, do not faint in your waiting, ask God to renew your strength and give you the grace not to give up.

Prayer point: By the power of resurrection, I will not faint nor give up in my Christian race in Jesus’ name.
