TAME THAT GIANT Colossians 3:1-8

Many times people have prayed that God should remove some vices or bad character away from their lives; God will not do for us, what He has given us capacity to do. These vices and bad characters if left untamed will grow into monsters that will consume the entire being. The very things which Samson; a Nazirite were warned of, were the things he took delight in, most especially strange women. He refused to tame the lust for strange women in him and the lust eventually grew into a monster that destroyed him. A Yoruba adage says, prune the Iroko tree while it is still a shrub, or else it becomes a deity over you as a full grown tree.

True victory over vices and bad character starts from the heart, focus your heart on godly things, V 1-2 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth. If you can successfully do that, you are on the path to victorious Christian living.

V 5 & 8 “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (which is idolatry). But now also put off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, shameful speech out of your mouth”. You are the one that will put all your earthly nature to death, albeit by the power of the Holy Ghost. God will not ask you to do it if you don’t have capacity for it. Always decree death upon any vice or bad character in your life and do not stoke the fire. Resist every urge to continue with those vices.

Prayer point: By the power of the Holy Ghost, I put to death all earthly nature in my life in Jesus name.
