Apostle Paul in this epistle gave a mild warning in the opening verse that we should not take the grace of God in vain. Many a time we indulge in things or acts that even we know is not right but we nevertheless don’t stop, this is taking the grace of God for granted. Our actions should not bring disrepute to the name of God. apostle Paul giving his testimony was a man that paid a lot of sacrifices and endured a lot for the sake of the gospel.
V 14-16 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people”. How on earth can you say an unbeliever is your best friend? For example, even if you don’t smoke but you have a smoker as a friend, you are already a smoker too. How can a Christian sister sleep overnight in a man’s house that is not even a Christian? How did pornography, drugs, contrabands etc. find its way into your house? Or how did a so-called born again got entangled in the case of corruption? When we allow unbelievers to get comfortable around us, then they will soon start influencing us. They may not agree with you, but people around you must know what you stand for.
God will never bend His law for anyone nor violate His word. If the word today has touched you and you know there are some friendship you need to break, V 17-18 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty”.
Prayer point: Father Lord help me break up every relationship not bringing glory to You.
