The first man-made Tabernacle for God was built in the wilderness. God made explicit demand from the people to bring willful offerings for the building and they brought until Moses told them that it was enough. Exodus 35:4-9, “And Moses spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, this is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying: Take from among you an offering to the LORD. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goats’ hair; ram skins dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood; oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense; onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate”. 36:6-7 “So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. And the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done, indeed too much”.
Before God demanded of them to bring, He made provision for them, before they left Egypt, God transferred the wealth of the Egyptians to them; Exodus 11:2-3 “Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbour and every woman from her neighbour, articles of silver and articles of gold. And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people”. Luke 7:2-5 “And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, that he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue”. A centurion wanted to see Jesus and Jesus was prompted to go with them when the Jewish leaders mentioned he built them a place of worship. You command divine attention when you are committed to God’s work. You must have a heart for the work of God. Building projects, needs in the church, ministering to the needs of church leaders must not be alien unto you.
Prayer point: Father grant me the grace to sow graciously into Your work in Jesus’ name.
